Lore Weaver’s Cauldron — a free AI text-based D&D 5e adventure that remembers everything

The Summoning Rite

loreweavers cauldron - a text based dnd 5e adventure that remembers everything

A free AI-D&D Adventure with mechanic dices, full 5e rules and unlimited freedom within the cauldron.
Play with deepseek-v4.1-flash, step-5-preview and qwen3.8-flash for free — or bring your own locally hosted models.

  • Free, forever. 20 fresh turns every day — no subscription, no credit card, no email. No player tracking, no metered fate.
  • Bring your own breath. Run the DM on your own Ollama and the narration costs 0 turns — uncensored and NSFW-friendly models play exactly as they are; your hardware, your content rules. Bring your own uncensored NSFW models to the cauldron. Opt into Whole Cauldron local and the Lorekeeper and memory run on your machine too. Dice, HP and the books stay honest on the server; portraits and voice narration stay on house engines.
  • Nothing holds the story hostage. Rewind your last turn with Undo, and export the whole campaign — NPCs, portraits, your character sheet, every line — as a single .zip.

No rules to memorize before you start. The DM teaches you as you play — or enforces them strictly, if you prefer the iron road.

What Brews Inside

Not a chatbot. A campaign.

Most AI games are a conversation you close and forget. The Cauldron is a text-based table — you write, the DM answers in kind, and a hidden engine keeps the whole world turning between your visits.

01
Your imagination renders the graphics

Purely Text-Based

No maps to learn, no miniatures to buy, no busywork between you and the story. You write what you do — the DM narrates what happens. Prefer to speak? Talk to the Dungeon Master and hear it narrate the reply out loud — voice in & voice out for a genuinely hands-free table. The oldest kind of role-playing, powered by the newest kind of mind.

See the game →

02
The world doesn’t reset when you do

A Persistent World

Every turn is distilled into durable facts — people, promises, grudges, discoveries — and the ones that matter ride in the Dungeon Master’s mind before every reply. Leave for a season; the innkeeper still remembers what you did, and who you did it with.

See core mechanics →

03
Every face at the table, portrayed

Create Your Own Avatars

Your adventurer, the NPCs you meet, even the DM — each portrait is generated by AI from the character’s own story, and rerolled until it feels right.

04
Real rolls. Real consequences.

Strict D&D 5e Ruleset

Initiative, advantage, saving throws, action economy — the Lorekeeper (the referee that checks the DM’s story against the numbers) keeps the books so you can stay in the story. Dice roll server-side: nobody fudges a roll, not even the DM. A natural 20 still feels like lightning.

See the receipt →

05
Take back a turn. Take the story with you.

Undo & Export

Sent the wrong sentence? Undo rewinds your last turn — one turn back, and it costs a turn like any other action; the game tells you so before you press it. And every NPC, portrait and line of dialogue leaves with you as a single .zip. No hostage-taking, no lock-in.

06
Choose the mind behind the mask

Play with DeepSeek, Qwen, StepFun & Wan

step-3.7-flash runs your table for free — one free Dungeon Master, no choice to make and nothing to unlock. It keeps the rules engine, the Guardian and the world state, so the free table is the same table, only with fewer hands to choose from. The one-time 10€ unlock opens the rest — Qwen 3.8 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Step 5 Preview + the OpenRouter community minds.

Read more about the minds →

07
One hero. Many worlds.

Cooked Souls — Carry Your Legend

Every adventurer you summon is saved in Cooked Souls — full sheet, level, items, gold and story intact. Start a new adventure any time and walk back in as the same hero: your history travels with you; the new world has no idea what you’re capable of.

08
Your hardware, your rules, no filters

Bring Your Local Models to the Cauldron

Run a local model through Ollama and pour it into the cauldron — your own machine, your own weights, nothing held back. House models follow their providers’ content policies; a model on your hardware follows yours, so uncensored and NSFW-friendly models play exactly as they are. The DM narrates with your model as its mind; no cloud, no content filters, and the DM step costs 0 turns. Free, and it stays yours.

Set up your own model →

The Receipt

Don’t take our word for the dice.

Every AI game says its dice are honest. This is what ours prints when you roll.

  1. 1
You write. Your own words, or your own voice — no menus to learn before the story starts.
  2. 2
The server rolls before the DM speaks. The narrator is handed a finished number and may not overrule it: it can describe a miss as a miss, but it cannot turn a miss into a hit.
  3. 3
The world is kept as data, not as chat. HP, inventory, promises, grudges, the dead and the debts — which is why a campaign still knows itself a hundred turns and one season later.
Athletics · Strength checkDC 15
d20 14 + 3 STR + 2 proficiency = 19
Successmargin 4 · the DM narrates what the engine decided
⚔ Goblin scout · d20 11 + 4 = 15 vs AC 16 → MISS 🗨 the narration wanted a hit — the engine said no, and the chat says so.

Same for saves, death saves and every enemy attack. The arithmetic is printed in the chat, so you can count it yourself — the only roll you can’t check is the one nobody made. If the server can’t be reached, the roll is labelled offline rather than quietly rolled in your browser.

Questions, answered

Free AI D&D — no fine print

Is this AI D&D roleplaying game really free?

Yes. The Lore Weaver's Cauldron is free to play — no subscription, no credit card, no email required. You get 20 fresh turns every single day.

How many free turns do I get each day?

20 fresh turns every day. One chat message = one turn; a voice narration or an image costs one turn too. Purchased turns never expire and are used only after your daily turns run out. The one-time 10€ unlock adds +100 turns that never expire — it buys turns, not a bigger day: the daily refresh stays at 20.

What does a donation unlock?

Any donation — 1€ is enough — permanently unlocks the chat's Undo button and campaign export (your whole story and uploaded avatars as a single .zip). The unlock never expires and does not renew: free accounts see Undo in a locked state. Undo still costs one turn each time it is used, and only the most recent turn can be rewound. Every € also adds +100 turns that never expire.

Does the AI fudge dice rolls?

No. Every roll is made before the Dungeon Master writes a word — on the server, not in the model. The narrator receives the finished number and is not allowed to overrule it: it can narrate a miss as a miss, or a hit as a hit, but it cannot turn one into the other. Your attacks, saving throws and death saves, and every enemy attack, print their arithmetic in the chat — d20 14 + 3 STR + 2 proficiency = 19 vs DC 15 — so you can count it yourself. When a story claims a hit the dice did not allow, the engine says so out loud.

Can I undo a turn, and can I take my campaign elsewhere?

Yes to both, once any donation has unlocked them — 1€ is enough, and the unlock is permanent. Undo rewinds your most recent turn only, and costs one turn each time it is used (the button says so before you press it). Export writes the whole campaign — story, NPCs, portraits, uploaded avatars — into a single .zip; Cooked Souls keeps the character itself portable into any new adventure.

What is an AI Dungeon Master?

An AI Dungeon Master is an LLM that runs your D&D campaign — narrating the world, keeping strict 5e rules, and remembering your story across sessions. The Cauldron pairs it with a persistent world engine, real dice ceremony, AI-generated portraits, local Ollama models that cost 0 turns — and a voice that reads every reply aloud with the one-time 10€ unlock.

Does the AI Dungeon Master remember my campaign?

Yes — the Lorekeeper engine tracks story threads, characters, growth, quests and NPCs across every session, so the innkeeper still remembers what you did last season.

From the Ledger

What’s new in the realm

v2.0 — The Pocket Table · 2026-10-28
  • The phone is the table now 2026-10-28 — 45 of the last 83 visits came from a phone and the most common screen is 360×780, so every screen was measured at that size before anything was touched. On the chat page the story column went from 299 to 446 px (38% → 57% of the screen), the composer, the starter chips and the narration row were squeezed, every control is at least 44×44 px, fields sit at 16 px so iOS stops zooming, and the login form starts at y 635 instead of y 1864. The narration player also lost its sentence: the play button has a tooltip, so play, the combat log and the voice picker now share one row above the composer at every width.
  • Qwen 4 is announced — not here 2026-10-28 — Alibaba confirmed the family at Apsara on 22 September and said “very soon”. It is in training: no weights, no API listing at our provider, no date. This ledger does not badge a model that cannot be called; the day it is, it comes to the table played through our own campaigns first. Today’s roster is unchanged: step-3.7-flash free, Qwen 3.8 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and Step 5 Preview behind the one-time unlock.
  • Prices are being adjusted — what you bought stays yours 2026-10-28 — the free table keeps its 20 fresh turns a day, no card and no email; that is not part of the adjustment. The paid side is under review, and the new numbers land on the pricing page before they take effect. The 10€ unlock stays one-time and permanent, bought and donated turns never expire, and nothing gets retro-priced. No date yet — said plainly.
  • The cauldron gets a domain of its own 2026-10-28 — dnd.rostad.cc has always been a borrowed corner of another site. The game is getting an address of its own; the move is announced here before it happens, and campaigns live on the server, not in the URL you typed today. Support continues: fixes ship with the reason they were needed, and the open list stays visible.
  • Your attack is rolled before the DM speaks 2026-10-23 — the engine settles hit or miss against the target’s AC and rolls the weapon damage before a word of the reply is written, so the Dungeon Master narrates an outcome that already exists. Two presses of the die can no longer turn an 18 into a miss. Sharpshooter finally pays its +10, rangers and paladins keep the spell slots their level earns, and a Lorekeeper that times out retries instead of dropping the turn.
  • The free minds that still answer 2026-10-22 — the free corner of the model picker was swept: stale entries (a voice that left the free tier, one that answers 404, two that only run inside OpenRouter’s own agent) are gone. A free voice no longer has to be text-only either — text in, text out, no cost is the whole rule now, so MiniMax M3.1 Flash and the rest of today’s free pool appear; fourteen voices, the hand-picked ones pinned first.
  • The corrected ledger 2026-10-21 — if character creation handed you a spell or a feat you never picked, the codex can finally put it right: drop the spell you did not want and add the one you should have had, swap a feat for another, and pick your fighting style properly. The Dungeon Master’s “it is updated” and the page now agree — every correction is written into Character Growth.
  • Your limits, in plain numbers 2026-10-21 — four quiet chips above the spellbook show your class and level, the highest spell level you can hold, cantrips known and spells known, each with a ? that explains it. The level picker only offers what your class can cast, the rest are greyed with the level that would open them, features swap one for one, and the sheet locks itself mid-fight instead of quietly refusing.
  • Watching for Qwen 4 and the next DeepSeek 2026-10-21 — neither is out: no weights, no API listing, no date. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (build 1017) remains the patron’s DM. This ledger does not badge models that cannot be called — when they are real, they will be played through our own campaigns first.
  • Six voices at the table 2026-10-06 — the realm now speaks German, French, Spanish and Italian beside English and Swedish: the Dungeon Master narrates every scene in your tongue and your character sheet — backstory, personality, gear and its lore — is woven in it too. Battle reports, the chronicle and travel times follow along; voice narration gained native pronunciation, voice input stays English-only (the speech engine reads English and Chinese, and we say so plainly). The interface itself stays English everywhere.
  • The archetype accordion 2026-10-06 — every fate is now a small expandable card: colour dot, name, chevron, click to fold out the lore. Two per row on desktop, one on phones, and the six mature archetypes moved from their separate dropdown into the same list. Illuminated initials stop breaking their words apart, and the hovering cauldron sigil above the gate became a quiet, dismissible news line.
  • New pricing — one unlock opens everything 2026-09-27 — the free table now refreshes 30 turns every day with step-3.7-flash. The one-time 10€ unlock adds +100 turns (they never expire, and are spent only after your daily turns run out) and opens every Dungeon Master (Qwen 3.8 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Step 5 Preview + the OpenRouter community minds), voice narration (Qwen 3.0 & StepFun) and image generation (StepFun, Wan 2.7 Pro, Qwen Image 3 Pro) — permanently, no 30-day window. Each narration or image costs 1 turn. Donations still work the same: every € adds exactly 100 turns.
  • DeepSeek V4.1 Flash at the table 2026-09-21 — DeepSeek’s open-weights reasoning model (552B, 16B active, 1M-token context, MIT license) joined the table as a player-chosen Dungeon Master. It replaced DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731.
  • Meet Step 5 Preview 2026-09-20 — StepFun’s deep-thinking flagship joined the roster. With the 10€ unlock you can set it as your Dungeon Master at the model gate or in Settings.
  • Qwen 3.8 Flash joins the roster 2026-09-13 — the swift Qwen mind arrived at the table; with the 10€ unlock, set it as your Dungeon Master in Settings or pick it from the model list.
  • Give your composer room New 2026-09-13 — the divider between the DM's log and your own words now drags to resize (double-click resets it), and the box has generous space on desktop and mobile alike — long roleplay replies no longer vanish behind a pinhole.
  • Combat that keeps its own count Improved 2026-09-13 — rounds now turn over by themselves once everyone has acted, enemies of the same name can no longer share one action flag, and each round closes with a single honest health snapshot instead of a stream of stale numbers. The voice picker also shows free players only the voices they can actually use.
  • Undo your last turn New Donation unlock — mistyped a line, or changed your mind the moment you hit send? The last message, the DM's reply and every change the Lorekeeper recorded from it are rewound together: inventory, gold, HP, quests, the journal and the memory return to where they stood. It costs one turn, and only the most recent turn can be rewound. Undo is part of the donation unlock — any donation, 1€ is enough, permanently unlocks it along with campaign export. Free accounts see the Undo button locked.
  • The party portrait blends again Fixed — the character card had gone opaque and left the portrait as a small square beside it; the image now sits behind the name, class and health bars the way it used to.
  • Your blade rolls, the DM does not New — weapon damage now tumbles through the server's dice engine on every hit, doubled on a critical; enemy blows have always worked that way. The story decides what it feels like, the dice decide what it costs.
  • Conditions that actually bind New — prone, restrained, stunned and poisoned now change rolls, turns and HP between rounds. A knocked-down goblin is easier to hit, and it hits worse.
  • Level-ups that level up New — reaching a new tier grants hit-dice health, class features, spell slots and a proficiency bonus that finally scales with who you have become.
  • A rulebook that matches the machine — the mechanics page was audited line by line against the code and rewritten where it promised more than it delivered; spell slots and rests are documented at last.
  • Truer day-to-day play — armour now moves your AC, long rests hand back half your hit dice, quests pay what they promise, and a purse can no longer be quietly rounded to zero.
  • One gold across the realm — the palette was consolidated into shared tokens, HP bars update on every combat turn, and offline rolls announce themselves honestly.
  • Returning heroes skip the tutorial — the onboarding steps fold away once you have an adventure, and the realm speaks your language through the whole quota ledger.
